Late last year, Apollo Display’s British sister company, Display Technology LTD., was asked to supply LCD-TFTs that offer perfect readability in direct sunlight and could show HD video and photo slides at a popular burger bar in London’s West End called Chosen Bun.  It quickly became apparent that our VideoPoster IIIs were exactly what the Chosen Bun needed.

Display Technology supplied our 46” VideoPoster IIIs with a brightness of 1500cd/m² and integrated mediaplayer, replete with all capabilities the client requested.

5 of Apollo’s 46″ VideoPoster IIIs now attract customers at Chosen Bun in West London.

The installed mediaplayers are network-compatible and playlists are stored on an SD-card. Content can be uploaded over the network via FTP server or local USB-interface, or pushed from your PC via ACC software – allowing for quick and easy content updates on all displays from a PC.

New LCD Display from AUO For Extreme Ambient Temperatures

Looking to install new displays in an area with extreme temperatures – places like mines, industrial facilities, areas affected by intense direct sunlight, boiler rooms and for use in outdoor applications?

Apollo Displays is about to receive AUO’s highly anticipated new 19“ LCD-TFT. The AUO G190ETN01.2 offers a wide temperature range of -30 to +80°C, making it perfect for use in applications in extremely warm or cold temperatures. The display has SXGA resolution (1280×1024), a brightness of 350cd/m², a viewing angle of 85⁰(h)/80⁰(v) and an integrated LED driving board for the backlight.

AU Optronics is one of the biggest TFT manufacturers in the world, with its own glass production facility in Taiwan. For all industrial TFTs (from 4.3” to 24”), AUO assures a minimum availability of 3 years.

Apollo also offers this new display as a VGA/DVI kit solution.

Unfortunately, the G190ETN01.2 is not mechanically or connector compatible to AUO’s other 19“ panel, the G190EG0x.

New Affordable 8” TFT from Solomon Goldentek Displays

Solomon Goldentek Displays excels at offering high performance LCD-TFTs at an affordable price point – making them quite popular with Apollo Display’s customers.  Because of Solomon Goldentek’s popularity with our customers, Apollo now offers  SGD’s  new 8″ TFT (GKTS80SNBI2E0) with LED backlight, 4:3 aspect ratio, SVGA resolution (800×600) and LVDS input.

SGD’s new TFT offers a wide temperature range (-20°C to +70°C) and is available as a pre-configured kit solution with our PrismaECO-III RGB / DVI/ HDMI controller board.

When higher resolution is required, Apollo can alternatively provide the GKNX80NNDC1F0 (featuring identical size dimensions as the GKTS80SNBI2E0) and XGA resolution (1024×768).

LG’s New 17” IPS Wide-View TFT Display With IPS Technology Now Available

Apollo Displays is about to receive the first samples of LG’s highly anticipated 17” LB170E01-SL01 LCD-TFT display. This impressive new panel comes replete with IPS technology, allowing for a wide viewing from extreme angles ( v/h 178°/178°). This display now provides an alternative to the very popular, but now obsolete Samsung LTM170E8-L01.

The IPS wide viewing angle technology also enables the LB170E01-SL01 to be used vertically in portrait mode.

The LB170E01-SL01 with LED backlight and SXGA resolution (1280×1024) has a brightness of typ. 400cd/m² and an extended temperature range of T_op -10…+70°C, making it quite versatile and perfect for myriad applications.

Apollo Displays Adds 2 New High-Bright/Max-Bright 15″ TFT Displays To Its Lineup

Apollo Displays is pleased to announce that we have received 2 new 15″ TFT-LCDs that The Data Display Group has just added to its lineup of 2013 high-bright/max-bright displays.

Both versions are based on AUO‘s G150XG01V3 (1024 x 768) and are equipped with an in-house developed LED backlight including the latest chip technology, allowing our engineers to quintuple the brightness.

The Data Display Group’s high-bright G150XG01V3-V555 reaches a brightness of up to 1150cd/m², while the max-bright G150XG01V3-V555A  improves that even further to a brightness of up to 2000cd/m².  Our SmartLED converters  enable the backlight to be dimmed from 0-100% and adjusted to all environmental conditions.  Both TFTs offer a wide operating temperature range of -35° to 85°C (-31° to 185°F ), making them perfect for outdoor use.

Apollo Display Technologies offers unique kit solutions that set it apart from its competitors. Apollo’s kit solutions include the TFT display and adapted controller board, as well as all necessary components for true plug-and-play functionality.

Another of Apollo’s affordable kit solutions –
AUO G156XW01V1 & PrismaMEDIA-eco

One of our more affordable kit solutions is AUO‘s G156XW01V1 15.6” TFT display combined with our PrismaMEDIA-eco controller board. The LED driving board is already integrated in the panel with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, a brightness of  typ. 300cd/m² and a viewing angle of 160°(h)/170°(v).

The TFT display is controlled by our PrismaMEDIA-eco board with HDMI 1.3a, DVI (via HDMI), DisplayPort 1.1a and VGA, which can be used either for industrial or multimedia applications. This controller  board supports HDCP (high-bandwidth digital Content Protection) which allows showing protected videos without any problems and has an optional audio-enabled 2x5W amplifier.

Apollo Displays can also supply the AUO G156XW01V1 with any Prisma controller board we offer.

Are Transparent Displays the Future for Product Showcasing?

AUO 65” Transparent TFT Display

Apollo Display Technologies is pleased to announce that we have just received the first samples of the new AUO P650HVF01.0. This 65” (163.83cm) TFT display is highly transparent with impressive color saturation, allowing objects behind the display to be seen while information is displayed on the TFT screen. This makes the new 65” AUO display perfect for use in shop windows, showcases, refrigerator/freezer cases or vending machines.  This TFT-LCD offers Full HD resolution (1920×1080) and a wide viewing angle of  178°(v)/178°(h). Because the display is transparent, it has no backlight as brightness and contrast depend on ambient lighting conditions.

The photo shows AUO’s P650HVF01.0 in one of our office windows with a view of the neighboring building.

AUO also offers the P500HVF01.0, a 50″ (127cm) version of this display. Both sizes will be available in quantities beginning Q1/2013.

New Product: Data Display Group G121XN01 V0-V554 12.1″ High Bright TFT-LCD

Apollo Display Technologies has released a new, enhanced TFT-LCD from our parent company, the Data Display Group. Developed and engineered at Apollo Displays’ facility in Ronkonkoma, New York, the Data Display Group’s G121XN01 V0-V554 is an improved TFT-LCD display with XGA resolution (1024 x 768), based on AUO’s G121XN01 V0. The DDG G121XN01 V0-V554  is a high-bright display (1000cd/m² ) that is twice as bright as the AUO original, ensuring improved readability in areas that are extremely bright, exposed to direct sunlight (near windows or doors), and in outdoor settings.

The Data Display Group also provides the perfect control solution for the enhanced LED backlight unit (BLU) with its SmartLED converter. 15″ TFT-LCDs – An Optical Comparison

Chimei Innolux G150XGE-L04 vs. AU Optronics G150XG01V3

Due to feedback from our customers, Apollo Displays decided to conduct a direct comparison of the optical features of two similar 15″ TFT-LCD displays (the Chimei Innolux G150XGE-L04 and the AUO G150XG01V3) which resulted in the following: the AUO G150XG01V3 with RGBW technology consumes 13% less power than the CMI G150XGE-L04 due to its white sub pixels, making the AUO G150XG01V3 the better choice for applications where operating cost is an issue.

While both TFTs performed similarly with regard to white image areas, our engineers found that the more affordable AUO G150XG01V3 loses brightness and image detail in the colored image areas. Because of this, in cases where screen brightness levels can be problematic (outdoor displays, displays near windows, direct sunlight, very bright areas, etc.), Apollo recommends the CMI Innolux G150GXE-L04 from Chimei Innolux.
